Hi guys! Welcome back! So glad to have you here and I pray that God's love overflows you today!! Anyways so this blog post wasn't planned and it just kinda came to me out of the blue...but I just had to share this!
Today's topic is something of much importance: confidence. Confidence can really take you places guys. And it really is beautiful. I think we've all seen that person that is unapologetically themselves, happy in their own skin, and you always want to be around them! It's that confidence guys. Confidence.
The problem is, the world tries to sell us a cheap message of confidence. Wear these jeans and you'll be confident! Get this haircut. These new shoes are so trendy and cute right now and your sure to catch everyone's attention wearing them! And all these other things.

And the truth is, that might make you feel confident for a little while, but it's a superficial confidence; dependent on what others think of you. As soon as those shoes aren't trending anymore and others opinions change, your confidence will too. And that's like a roller coaster. And not a fun one.
Google defines confidence as, "a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities." Self-assurance. One's appreciation. Of one's own abilities. Qualities.
When was the last time that you looked in the mirror and truly felt proud of what you're seeing? Or that you said, "wow I'm really good at soccer." Or swimming. Or speaking. Or whatever else your talent may be. The enemy tries to keep us from appreciating ourselves and finding value in who God made us to be, because he knows that if we have this, we will be an unstoppable force in the kingdom of God. And the enemy does not like that.
Let's take a look at an interesting story in the Bible, found in Isaiah 45:9-11. Here God is trying to teach His people a lesson through the use of clay. God says, "Does the clay say to the potter, "What are you making?" Does your work say, "The potter has no hands."" (Isiah 45:9) Sounds silly right? The creation looking up to the creator and saying, "I don't like this." Try to imagine this in your head a little. I don't know about you guys, but we would always make clay pots in my elementary school (Ahhh I miss those days!) But anyways...
Those clay pots would take a long time to take. I'm no artist, but I remember how long it would take to shape it, wait for it to dry, paint it, and bake it. Months! But when we were done, we were so happy and proud. We would show them to our parents, our eyes beaming with pride at our new creation.
Now just imagine that little pot that you made, (And I know that this is going to sound silly, but trust me, do it anyway) looks you in the face and says "I don't like this. I look weird. Why couldn't you have done this? Or this? Or this?" You just spent so long working hard on this creation! Your heart beams with pride for it, and it tells you this. That would upset you wouldn't it?
The thing is, that's exactly what we are doing with God when we point out our flaws to Him. He spent so long dreaming you up, from your hair to your eyes, to even something as small as the curve of your nose and the shape of your fingers. He created you as a masterpiece. You are so so so beautiful. Breathtaking. And I mean it. Don't take it from me. Take it from the Creator of the universe.
You see, when we look at ourselves proudly and happily with who God has created us to be, we have this unshakeable confidence that no one can take away. Because, the only one who can take away, is the one who gives, and when God gives you confidence, it is something that you will always have, for He is eternal and everlasting.
As you finish reading, I'd like to pray for you real quick. I pray that you may know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, more beautiful than you will ever know, and bought with a price. That you may know that the same God who created the skies and the breathtaking sunsets and waterfalls also created you. That He adores you, and He calls you beautiful. And I pray that you may believe it with all of your heart. For you truly are a gem in His eyes. And I pray this all in Jesus name, and everybody says, amen.
